Pneumatic limit switches can detect a pressure drop, and in this case send a signal (S). Paricularly interesting is the application as a 'limit switch sensor' mounted directly to the cylinder. When the cylinder complete the stroke, i.e. when the exhaust backpressure in the chamber was discharged, a control signal (S) is sent to the directional valve, which, when switched, will send the input to the cylinder to reverse the stroke. The main advantage is that the cylinder stroke can be controlled without need for electrical wiring. The only condition imposed for correct operation of the pneumatic sensor is that the cylinder must make the full stroke, no intermediate positions are permitted.
